Creating a Live Blog Post

Learn how to create, edit, and delete a live blog post, insert content, and adjust the text height.

How to create a Tickaroo Live Blog Post

After you have created your liveblog, you can start filling it with content (posts). Content can be in plain text form or can be various media, link / embeds, quotes, emojis, comments, sport events, scoreborads, player cards, web content & extensions and much more.  It is important to click "Post Message" when you have a finished post so that your content and changes are not lost. Once a post is saved, it will appear on the right side of the editor in the preview in chronological order.

Multireporter Collaboration in Liveblogs

Take your liveblog collaboration to the next level with this feature! All reporters in your organization can create new posts or edit posts made by others. To avoid conflicts, each editor will see an info box above a post if another editor is currently working on it. This ensures that multiple editors don’t unintentionally overwrite the same post. Additionally, the name of the post creator is displayed next to each post (this can be turned off by navigating to Liveblog Integration > Edit Themes). When creating a new post, you can also assign other users who have already contributed to the liveblog as authors. Enhance teamwork, avoid conflicts, and streamline your liveblog creation process!

Editor: Rearrange Content within a Message

When you create a message in the liveblog, you work with so-called blocks.  There are the following blocks: Rich Text, Media, Link / Embed, Quote, Emoji, Comments, Sports Event, Scoreboard and Player Map.   Include as many blocks as you like in your message, swap them in order or delete them again. Add blocks: Add blocks by clicking on + Add Content to select your desired block. The new block will always appear below the existing blocks. Arrange blocks: Change the order of your blocks by selecting the control pad above the block and dragging the block to the desired location in the message.  Delete blocks: Above each block you will find a trash can icon that allows you to remove blocks from a message one at a time.

Limit Post Height for Better Clarity

For particularly long texts, it’s a good idea to limit the height of the post. This helps keep your liveblog clear and easy to follow, even when sharing a lot of content on the topic. Below the Rich Text field, you’ll find the option "No Highlight" to limit the post height for this specific entry.

Editor: Adding Tags to Posts

Activating Tags:  When creating a new live blog, you can already choose whether to activate tags. You can also activate tags in already created live blogs through the live blog settings. Tags must be activated if you want to use them. If this feature is not visible to you, please contact your Tickaroo representative or [email protected]. Creating Tags:  Create new tags in the settings of your live blog. Editing Tags:  Tags can be edited at any time in the live blog settings. Using Tags for Posts:  Create a new post and select the desired tag(s) below the rich text field. The chosen tags will now appear in the live blog preview above your post. For more information about how tags are displayed on the website, see below. Filtering by Tags (Editorial Team):  To make the editorial team’s work easier, live blog posts can be filtered in the editor preview on the right side. In addition to the option to filter by published, unpublished, and highlight posts, you can now use tags to select which posts are displayed to the editorial team in the preview. This does not affect how the posts are displayed to your readers on the website. Filtering by Tags (Readers):  If you also display the tags on your website, your readers can filter the live blog for content that is relevant to them. Tag Settings in the Theme Generator:  Open the theme that you are using or want to use/edit for your website. Under options, you will now find various settings for the tags: Tag Display: Determines the position or visibility of the tags on a post on your website. Tag Filter: Choose between Tag List (tags are displayed side by side on the website, max. 12 tags), Tag Search (a kind of dropdown, automatically activated for more than 12 tags), or No Filter (if tags are only for internal use or live blogs have already been pre-filtered). Tag Syndication using Content Streams: If you are using our Content Stream feature, you have the option to use tag syndication to organize live blogs. You can automatically syndicate individual posts tagged with specific tags from a source live blog into a new live blog. You can find more information here: Content Streams: Tag Syndication
