Release: June 2023 We know you've been waiting for this! Handling the consent for the third-party embed in a liveblog just got easier - from now on, customers can choose among several consent handling options right in Themes (before it was possible only by changing the embed code. Why is consent handling so important? The answer lies in GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). It sets out the principles of lawful processing of personal data, including the need to obtain clear and informed consent from individuals to process data. When third-party content is included in a liveblog, if consent handling has not been enabled, the reader’s data is unknowingly or unwillingly transmitted to the social media platform. Although totally removing the consent toggle is not recommended for most cases, our software offers several consent handling options allowing for flexibility in compliance: Ask consent: A preview is displayed and only when the user agrees the actual embed is loaded (default). Embeds without consent: Always displays the web embed without a consent switch. Preview without consent: Always displays the preview. Hide embeds: Web embeds will not be shown at all.
