Live Blog Engagement Tools

Learn more about our Tickaroo Live Blog engagement tools, such as live comments, polls, and guest access.

Live Blog Post Reactions

Boost your readers’ engagement by enabling reactions for your liveblogs. This allows them to respond to your posts in real time using emojis – quickly and effortlessly.  We currently offer predefined emoji sets for News, Sports, Elections, and Entertainment. You can enable or disable reactions for each liveblog individually, either when creating it or later under Settings in the Options tab.  This feature is available for all organizations. If you don’t see the reactions option in your settings, just reach out to us and we’ll activate it for you.

Live Blog Polls

With the poll feature, you can integrate interactive polls into your live blog, increase reader engagement, and gather direct feedback on current topics. How to Create a Poll: Add a Poll: Open the editing section of the live blog. Select the "Poll" option. The poll feature will now be displayed. Enter a Question and Answer Options: Enter a clear and concise question. Add multiple answer options (at least two, as many as needed). Set the Poll Duration: Define how long the poll should be active. Once the set time has elapsed, the poll will automatically end. Determine the Placement of the Poll: The poll can be published as a standalone post. Alternatively, it can be integrated into a longer post. If desired, you can pin the poll at the top of the live blog. Live Results and Anonymity: The poll is anonymous – each reader can vote only once. The editorial team can view the live results directly in the editor. With this simple feature, you can make your live blog more interactive and actively involve your readers in the reporting process!

Q&A Sessions with Experts and Audience

With Tickaroo Liveblog, you can easily host interactive Q&A sessions between experts and readers. To do this, you’ll need our guest access and the comment function. How It Works: Invite Experts: Use guest access to invite experts to the desired live blog via email. They will have full access to this live blog but cannot leave the editor area. Create a Q&A Post: Create a pinned post with the comment function enabled so readers can ask questions directly. Alternatively, you can create a separate post for each expert, enable the comment function, and mark it as a highlight to make it easily visible for readers. Answer Questions: Readers ask their questions in the comments. Experts can respond directly via the Liveblog Editor using the comment function. Managing Comments within the Editor

Use the "Comments" icon in the menu bar to get an overview of all comments created by your readers and edit them if necessary.  Info: Comments are post-specific, i.e. they can be created for individual liveblog posts and not for the entire liveblog.  You can choose different options for your comments already in the editor: - Instant Publishing - Review Comments - Read-Only (i.e. readers cannot add more comments, existing comments are kept) - Comments disabled (i.e. the comment function is completely hidden) Clicking on "Comments" in the menu bar opens a new window within the liveblog editor. Here you can see an overview of all comments created on this liveblog.  In the inbox you can edit comments, reply to comments, highlight comments or block a user. If you have selected the comment function "Review comments", they will end up in your inbox as shown in the screenshot below and you will have to manually "Approve" them.  Create labels to add labels to comments to better sort them.

Live Blog Teaser Widget

Tickaroo Live Blog Teaser Widget – Showcase your live coverage on your homepage The Tickaroo Live Blog Teaser Widget lets you promote your live blog directly on your homepage. It displays the latest or highlighted posts from your live blog – allowing readers to jump straight to the corresponding post with one click. Here’s how it works: Create a Teaser Theme: Create your Teaser Theme in the same place where you create your Live Blog Theme and choose your preferred styling options. Check out the Helpdesk article: Teaser for News and Sports   Embed the Teaser Widget: Add the generated Teaser Widget code to your website, just like the Live Blog Widget – for example, at the top of your homepage.   Displayed Content: The widget shows the latest or highlighted posts from your live blog (you decide). Each post is linked, just like in a highlight slideshow or list.   Ensure correct linking: Your live blog must be embedded first before you add the teaser. The teaser searches for the embedded live blog on your site. However, in your live blog settings, you can define the page URL under “Live blog URL.” → If set, the teaser links directly to this URL. → If not, our system automatically tries to find the correct page.   Set a teaser title: You can assign a custom teaser title in your live blog settings. If none is set, the live blog title will be used.   Statistics: Once your live blog and teaser are embedded, your live blog statistics will also show click data for your teaser. Get Started You’ll find all the technical details and integration steps in our Developer Documentation.
